Is this course for me ?

This is a one day course for those new or of limited experience in ultrasound imaging. The course is a combination of lectures, demonstrations and workshop sessions and is designed to provide a good practical introduction to medical imaging techniques.

What will I learn ?

On completion of the CoROM Ultrasound Course, participants will have learned the basics of Ultrasound theory and will be able to do Ultrasound assessments in a hospital setting.

What particular skills will I obtain?

The course is arranged with concentrated hands on lab experience throughout the entire day. We use your fellow delegates as live models for a realistic training experience and we provide adequate faculty coverage to ensure a significant hands on experience for each participant. The maximum machine to delegate ration is 1:4.

  • Abdominal & Retroperitoneal Ultrasound

Leadership Competencies

  • Gauging colleagues’ skills sets, experience and ability to participate in an ultrasound assessment
  • Directing an ultrasound assessment from within the team and from outside it
  • Assuming various responsibilities within the team as appropriate
  • Regulating team members’ responsibilities according to individual competencies
  • Planning for ultrasound interventions with the limited resource availability

How will I be assessed?

The CoROM Ultrasound Course incorporates CoROM standards of curriculum delivery and rigorous outcome measurement.

  • Small group teaching sessions
  • Small group simulation practices
  • Summative simulation-centred evaluation

Successful course completion will involve a written examination and participation in a simulated critically ill patient scenario within a classroom setting.

Course Location:

This course will be held at Seabreeze Hotel which is located in Birzebbuga. (Right on the seafront.)

The classroom is located on the first floor of the hotel. Enter the building by the side entrance (hotel reception) and make your way upstairs. There, the classroom is located to your left, through the glass doors.

Course Timing:

The course will begin at 8 am and finish at around 5 pm.

There will be a one-hour lunch break.

What you need to bring to the course:

  • Notebook/ Paper / Pens / Laptop (according to preference, for taking notes)

  • WIFI is available.
  • Tea, coffee, water and light refreshments will be provided during break times.
