Kibosho District Hospital

Kibosho is located at the base of Mount Kilimanjaro in Northern Tanzania. It is sixty minutes from the regional airport (JRO) and 14 kilometres north of Moshi, Tanzania. This is a very remote placement located halfway up Mount Kilimanjaro.

Moshi, Tanzania is a safe, English-speaking with a mainly Christian population. There are over 1000 ex-pats that are climbing Mount Kilimanjaro on any given day. Moshi has a huge ex-pat population and hosts many excellent restaurants. There are no accommodation options in Kibosho. The hospital provides food and accommodation at USD$25 per night B&B.

Clinical Placement Info

Placements can be arranged for any of the hospital wards such as the ICU, dermatology, surgery, general medical ward and infectious disease ward.

Important Notice: Kibosho is a remote District Hospital. There are no restaurants or other attractions like those found in Moshi. There is a canteen in the hospital. There is a small convenience store in the village that has snacks, some groceries and adult beverages. Our local representative, Johnny, can be hired to drive delegates down to Moshi for a change of pace. It is a 25-minute drive each way.

What does my tuition pay for?

Each delegate is responsible for their travel, immunisation and visa costs. Additionally, the delegate is responsible for local taxi costs and any additional food and beverages needed.

The College will provide free airport transfers. Our local representative to be at the airport as you arrive and drive you 60 minutes to Kibosho. He will help you check in with the international office of Kibosho and bring you to your accommodation.  He will also take you back to the airport at the end of your placement.
